The theme of this year’s event was women and golf; making history for centuries. Asign was placed on each tee commemorating a significant event in Women’s Golf including:

  • Mary Queen of Scots coining the term “Caddie” in 1552 at the Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland.
  • Issette Miller inventing the handicap system in 1893.
  • The first US Women’s Open won by Patty Berg in 1934.
  • Mickey Wright and Barbara Romack defeating Arnold Palmer and Dow Finsterwald in a CBS Sports Spectacular in 1961.
  • Kathy Whitworth becoming the first woman golfer to earn more than $1million and winning her 83rd tournament in 1981.
  • Juli Inkster wins the only Professional Golf event for both Men & Women – the 1990 ATT Invitational Pro-Am at Pebble Beach.
  • Lydia Ko became the youngest golfer of either gender to be ranked the Number 1 Professional at 17 years 9 months.
