HIALEAH GARDENS, Fla. (WSVN) — The United States Swim School Association opened a new facility in Hialeah Gardens Sunday.

The Ocaquatics Swim School opened near Northwest 104th Avenue and 134th Street. Young swimmers got to cut the ceremonial red ribbon before jumping in the water for their lessons.

According to the school’s director, the facility is doing everything they can to prevent childhood drowning. “Unfortunately, drowning is the leading cause of death in children under the age of 5 in the state of Florida, so we do whatever we can do to make our children and families safer around the water,” said Miren Oca.
