Chris Sanders, the director of Lilo & Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon, has partnered with his wife, Jessica Steele-Sanders, to release their first novel Rescue Sirens: The Search for the Atavist.

I’m sure you’ve come across the name before. Chris Sanders has had his name attached to some of the best animated movies. After the success of Disney’s Lilo & Stitch – where he co-directed with Dean De Blois and voiced the cute little alien Stitch – he took his talents to Dreamworks to co-direct How to Train Your Dragon and The Croods. Chris Sanders also appears to be quite the entrepreneur. He started a webcomic Kiskaloo, released several sketch books in paperback and has his own online store of figures and plushes. Now he turns his talents to creating a book. If you follow Sanders on any social media you’ll soon see that he’s always had a fascination with drawing mermaids but it was his wife, Jessica Steele-Sanders, who first pitched the idea of a story about mermaid lifeguards.
