Every day in March will feature analysis of the previous night plus a quick look at games with the potential to impact the final NCAA tournament field of 68.

RISERS

Indiana: The Hoosiers (20-12) sprinted to an 18-point lead in the first 10 minutes against Northwestern and ultimately had little difficulty booking passage to the Big Ten quarterfinals with a 71-56 victory over the Wildcats. Indiana thus avoids a devastating loss; it either solidifies its status with a victory over Maryland or goes home with a defeat that won’t hurt its profile.

North Carolina: One of the day’s biggest seeding winners was the Tar Heels (22-10), who bested Louisville 70-60 in the ACC quarterfinals thanks to a stellar second half. A semifinal date with Virginia awaits (29-2); win that, and it will be hard to keep the Tar Heels off the No. 4 line. They might be there regardless.
