SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) — A Chilean hospital said Tuesday that star midfielder Arturo Vidal has escaped serious injury after reportedly crashing a Ferrari in the outskirts of Santiago.
The San Luis de Buin hospital confirmed that Vidal was treated for minor injuries in its emergency room. Television images showed the Juventus midfielder leaving the hospital in the back seat of a police car, but no other details were immediately available.
Several media reports said Vidal, the Copa America’s leading scorer with three goals from two matches, crashed the car on a highway south of the Chilean capital.
Police confirmed a red Ferrari was involved in an accident, but would not immediately say whether Vidal was involved.
