SOUTHERN PINES —
Hard-hitting football was a little easier in morning showers, except for perhaps a couple more errant shotgun snaps and slippery handoffs than usual for preseason scrimmages, than it would have been on a hot and humid August afternoon, so Pinecrest, Union Pines and four more football teams worked hard Tuesday morning on Pinecrest’s practice fields.
Varsity and junior varsity squads lined up for series of 10-play possessions. It was what the host school needed with a little more than a week left before the regular season starts said Patriot head coach Chris Metzger.
