Who said you couldn’t have and do it all?
If anyone did, Irma Colón- Alonso sure proved him or her wrong. In today’s modern world where mothers have taken on so much more into their daily schedules, its no wonder the corporate world is changing so fast. Fathers are also much more involved in the role of the care and child rearing than they were decades ago at a time when it was practically unheard of. This particular story is about a very dedicated and determined woman who has taken on a lot more than the role of a Mom, Dad, Leader, Professional, Motivator, and community role model.
She is a dedicated community leader. Irma Colón-Alonso is a very determined woman who once she sets her mind on any goal, she commits to the fullest. Always having a drive to succeed, she challenged herself to run the ING half marathon and completed her training in only twelve weeks time. Now she is committed to run the ING marathon every year. She was inspired by her older brother Alfredo, who is an avid runner and her youngest Jorge who secretly trained for the Marine Corps Marathon 2 years ago and lost 50 pounds in the process. She ran the 2014 ING marathon with her oldest daughter Natalia, her youngest brother Jorge, who traveled from Charlotte, North Carolina, and Sister in law Michelle who traveled from Puerto Rico. All four crossed the finish line holding hands. Irma and her family are now planning to run their next marathon together-location to be decided!
