In the latest trickle of news from the Grammy Awards, the organizers of the awards show announced on Wednesday that the cast of “Hamilton” will perform a number on the broadcast, live via satellite from the Richard Rodgers Theater in New York.

“Hamilton,” created by Lin-Manuel Miranda, has been a critical and commercial smash, and is by far the hottest ticket on Broadway. The show’s cast collection is up for best musical theater album atthis year’s Grammys, which will be held in Los Angeles on Feb. 15 — a Monday, when “Hamilton” has no performance scheduled — and broadcast live by CBS.

It will be the eighth time in the Grammys’ 58-year history that musical theater has been featured at the show, and the first time since 2010, when Green Day performed with cast members of “American Idiot,” the show based on the band’s songs, according to the awards. It will also be the first time that a performance will be fed from satellite since Amy Winehouse sang in London in 2008.

This year’s Grammys will also feature performances by Adele, the Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, Ellie Goulding, Little Big Town and Carrie Underwood, among others, as well as Lady Gaga in a tribute to David Bowie.
