Coconut Grove Resident Talks About Life In The Grove
Peter B. Laird has a special connection to Coconut Grove. The longtime Grove resident moved here 32 years ago to marry his wife, Patti, who was born and raised in the house next door to their beautiful, wood-frame home built in 1900 by Grove pioneer Jack Peacock.
Laird, 54, is the creative strategist and copywriter at Laird Creative, a Grove-based advertising and communications firm. He also serves as president of the Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce, which has been helping support local businesses for nearly 70 years.
So it was no surprise that Laird was asked by Riley Smith, a Coconut Grove Realtor, to appear in one of a series of videos Smith commissioned featuring local business leaders and residents talking about what they love most about living and working in the Grove.
For Laird, there’s no place he’d rather than live than right here in Coconut Grove. “We live here, we work here, we play here, and we’ve raised our family here,” he says. “The Grove is like a tropical oasis. You don’t really feel like you’re living in the middle of a big city.”
