Through the first three weeks of the NFL season, it is clear that quarterback play remains the single biggest determining factor. What is surprising is who among those quarterbacks has been successful, thus far.

While quarterbacks expected to breakout this season like Andrew Luck, Ryan Tannehill andJoe Flacco are among the veterans who have struggled, the Jets and Bills meanwhile are getting surprising play from journeymen Ryan Fitzpatrick and Tyrod Taylor, respectively. Taking the veteran strategy hasn’t worked in the past for the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans, which is why both clubs may have no choice but to once again gamble top 10 selections on quarterbacks.

While the final order is anyone’s guess at this point, the talent at the top in college football is already separating itself with California quarterback Jared Goff and Mississippi defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche challenging Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa as the country’s top prospect.
